This is great for existing desktop-Linux users, but it’s not going to win over any new fans or bring desktop-Linux to the mass market.
It’s ugly. Stop trying to be like OS X. Apple uses visual effects sparingly. You know what happens when you go overboard and put graphical gimmicks above functionality and usability? Vista.
Linux is still very difficult to use beyond very basic functionality unless you’re a Linux geek.
The Linux community still can’t agree on anything, and development effort is still wastefully fragmented.
