Netscape Navigator 9 mini-review
https://marco.org/2007/06/27/netscape-navigator-9-mini-review
I switched to Netscape after Monday’s post (download) and have been using it heavily since then.
- It’s basically Firefox with some new buttons and menu items about “sharing”
- The interface is more responsive (feels fast) upon first load
- It has just as many interface bugs as Firefox (permanent blank tooltips, window-moving snap-backs, unreliable bookmark dragging, unreliable file-upload selection, wrong-position right-click menus)
- It bogs down after a while, just like Firefox
Verdict: It’s nice to see the green-N icon again after 10 years, but there’s no practical reason to use Netscape Navigator instead of Firefox. If nothing else, Firefox will probably be first to get bugfixes and improvements in the future, so just use it instead.
I’m switching back.
