As much as I’ve always reflexively loathed the “FUD” acronym, if it quacks like an SCO lawyer and all that. As I said, Bray’s not stupid. When he refuses to distinguish between the iPhone App Store and the Internet, he knows what he’s doing.
While I think Bray makes some good points in the referenced piece, I have to agree with this Coyote Tracks post: Bray’s conflation of the internet and the App Store is careless at best, and could plausibly be malicious.
Whatever the intent, it’s a misleading application of partial truths to imply something that differs significantly from the complete truth. In other words, it’s bullshit. And it’s therefore a weak argument that doesn’t help anyone.
