Accounts bought at $50 will have extra time added to compensate. They’ve also added a $5/month (which uncomfortably works out to $60/year) plan for people who want to try it monthly.
This is a nice move, but I don’t think it’s enough of a price drop to meaningfully change the adoption rate. Most people who balked at $50 will also balk at $36.
(Meanwhile, I’m marcoarment on the free, distributed Tent.is service, I’m marco on App.net, and I still have no idea how to split my posts or attention between these services and Twitter.)
